Ebisu: God of the Ocean, Fishing Folk, Prosperity (Japanese Origin)
Both are considered patrons of wealth and good fortune. They are also two important members of Japan's Seven Lucky Gods.

  • Wood = Unknown
  • Inches = 8.66 (H) x 4.53 (W) x 3.54 (D)
  • Centimeters = 22 (H) x 11.5 (W) x 9 (D)
  • Ebisu (Japanese Origin). Male. The smiling and bearded Ebisu is often depicted with a fishing rod in his right hand, and a large red sea bream (symbol of good luck in Japan) dangling from the line or tucked under his arms.
  • Daikoku (Hindu Origin). Male. Daikoku usually wears a hood and stands on bales of rice, with a large treasure sack slung over his shoulder and his right hand holding a small magic mallet. There are other forms, including a female form. Also known as a deity of the kitchen and a provider of food.
  • Date: Early 20th Century.

Quality. The Daikoku piece is stained and cracked on its backside, and the right hand in front is missing the magic mallet. For the Ebisu piece, the flipper of the fish is slightly clipped; yet the fish scales are delightful to behold. Despite these problems, both pieces are truly wonderful
